Stojanče Stefanov, the 62nd victim of the fire in a disco in Kočani, died today at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, the Ministry of Health of North Macedonia announced.
As stated in the Ministry's statement, according to information from the Military Medical Academy (MMA) in Belgrade, Stojanče Stefanov from Kočani, born in 2001, succumbed to injuries sustained in a fire in the Kočani discotheque "Puls" this morning.
It is specified that this is a patient who, from the first day, according to the initial triage performed by medical teams in Skopje, was immediately referred for treatment at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade and who has been intubated and in critical condition for the past month.
It added that 27 percent of Sefanov's skin surface was affected by burns and that he had serious injuries from smoke inhalation.
"He underwent surgery at the Military Medical Academy on April 4 and was placed on an ECMO machine due to smoke inhalation, which mechanically oxygenates the blood due to inhaled smoke. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was unstable and in serious general condition during most of his hospitalization," the statement from the Ministry of Health of North Macedonia reads.
A fire broke out at the "Puls" discotheque in Kočani, a town in North Macedonia about 100 kilometers east of Skopje, on Sunday, March 16 at 2.30:XNUMX a.m., due to the use of pyrotechnics at a concert by the band DNK.
