The president of the Democratic Party (DS) and MP Srđan Milivojević stated today that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić ordered special police forces to use force against students and unblock the approaches to Radio Television of Serbia on Takovska Street and Košutnjak on the night between Thursday and Friday.
Milivojević told the Beta agency that he received this information from reliable sources from the Ministry of Interior and the BIA and called on all opposition MPs to spend the following night with students in front of RTS.
"Vučić ordered police units to urgently break up the student blockades. He lost his temper and was scared like a little mouse, and now, in an attack of panic and fear, he wants to address the citizens from RTS. I call on citizens to be in as many numbers as possible in Takovska and Košutnjak tonight, as well as all opposition MPs to come in front of RTS and be with the students," said Milivojević.
He added that Vučić also ordered the removal of Vladimir Orlić from the position of director of the BIA, because, as he said, information is constantly leaking from that agency.
"Vučić is dissatisfied with the information leaks from the BIA, and especially because we know everything about the use of the sound cannon. I will file criminal charges against the Ministry of Interior because they illegally acquired and used the sound cannon. I will also file criminal charges against the unauthorized address because, contrary to the laws and the Constitution, he invited members of the foreign security service (FSB) to conduct an investigation in Serbia," the DS president stated.
Milivojević recalled that World War I began when Serbia did not allow Austro-Hungarian investigators to conduct an investigation into the Sarajevo assassination in Serbia.
"Foreign security services can only be summoned to Serbia by a court. Given that the Russian FSB was not summoned by a Serbian court, but by an unauthorized and incompetent person, criminal charges will be filed against Aleksandar Vučić," said Milivojević.
Students and citizens today paid tribute to those killed in the accident at the Novi Sad Railway Station
Students and citizens in several places in Serbia today observed a 16-minute silence to honor those who died in the accident at the Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1st last year.
In front of the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) building in Belgrade, students and citizens, who have been blocking the entrances to the building since Monday, blocked traffic on Takovska Street for 16 minutes.
Farther away from them, there were several police officers near the police cars, ensuring that there was no traffic on Takovska Street, and after the mail was delivered, the officers called on the crowd to remain on the street.
The loud noise continued, interrupted to pay tribute to the 16 people who died in the collapse of the canopy of the reconstructed Novi Sad Railway Station.
There are no police squads in front of the entrance to the RTS building and in the immediate vicinity, although, as some students told Beta Agency, the police are inside the building.
At the entrance there is a large tent with food and refreshments.
On the plateau in front of the public media service, numerous banners were hung, reading "RTS - Student Radio and Television", "There is no evolution without revolution", "Who is afraid of silence", "Faculty thinks critically" and "Solidarity, freedom, rule of law".
Among those gathered was the former president of the Democratic Party, Zoran Lutovac.
In Novi Sad, some opposition MPs in the Provincial Assembly paid tribute to the victims by holding banners in front of the rostrum with the inscription "You will all be held accountable."
During that time, some of the ruling majority MPs sat in the benches, while others came out in front of the assembly hall.
Citizens protesting in front of the Provincial Assembly blocked the intersection of the nearby Mihajla Pupina Boulevard and Žarka Zrenjanina Street for 16 minutes, after which they returned to protest in front of the Assembly.
RTS: We are adjusting the program schedule due to difficult working circumstances, broadcast Dnevnik
RTS, whose facilities in Belgrade have been blocked by students and citizens since Monday at 22 p.m., and which did not broadcast the Morning Program this morning, announced that it is adjusting its programming schedule due to difficult working circumstances. After the Morning Program was not broadcast this morning, the Morning News began at its regular time of 8 a.m.
In a statement on its website, RTS stated that the illegal blockade of their facilities, which has prevented employees from entering their workplaces, has been ongoing since Monday at 22 p.m.
"Students and citizens blocking the public service media facilities allowed several RTS security guards into the buildings, which enabled the replacement of some of the workers securing the facilities and security systems. This reduced the risk of potential incidents and accidents," the statement said.
RTS had previously appealed to those gathered to enable the replacement of security workers, which was carried out every 24 hours, due to potential dangers, as security employees are trained to operate fire protection systems, as well as other systems necessary for the functioning of the facilities.
Students and citizens are blocking and entering the Radio and Television of Serbia facilities on Takovska and Aberdareva Streets this morning, as well as the studios on Košutnjak, preventing employees from coming to their workplaces.
