Four workers at the Post of Serbia in Novi Sad, who were on strike from February 14th to early March, were fired today, one of the postmen said.
As Denis Geljić confirmed to the Beta agency, they have not yet been officially handed their dismissals, but he saw them when he went to the director to inquire about the salary reduction.
As he said, they were fired due to the suspension of work and support for students.
On Tuesday, their salary for March arrived, also reduced, so Geljić went to the director to talk about it and saw that the dismissals had arrived in the mail.
"The director of the work unit started taking out the resignation letters one by one from the post office, and he was, like, surprised because it was signed from Belgrade, and the reason was that I was on suspension," said Geljić.
He adds that, by law, in that case, they should have been fired back in February, when the work stoppages began.
He also says that the document says April 14th, even though he worked normally on April 14th, 15th, and 16th.
In addition to him, three other postmen were also laid off, although, as he added, there were initially 20 employees on strike, and by the end, 12 remained.
They will be defended by a team of lawyers, and they are announcing lawsuits when their dismissals are finally officially served.
By then, he added, he will most likely go on sick leave, while one of his colleagues is already on vacation.
