The student blockade of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) in Belgrade has entered its 87th hour.
Since April 14th at 22 pm, the facilities of the Public Service of Serbia in Takovska Street and Koštunjak have been blocked.
According to the students, the blockade will last until a new competition for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) is announced, or until RTS is shut down.
RTS is adjusting its programming schedule during the blockade, and the editorial board of that media outlet has repeatedly called for an end to the blockade.
On Takovska Street, in front of the RTS headquarters, students and citizens today paid tribute to those who died in the collapse of the Novi Sad Railway Station canopy on November 1, 2024.
On Košutnjak, in front of the blockaded RTS building, an Easter egg painting event will be organized at 15 p.m., and the students in the blockade have invited citizens to join them.
"Colorful eggs, not colorful lies. We invite you to Easter egg painting in front of RTS on Košutnjak on Good Friday from 15 p.m.," they said on Instagram.
Earlier today, the RTS editorial board announced on its website that the Public Service is operating in the most difficult conditions ever.
"All editorial offices, journalists in the field, including young associates, technical and production teams, through no fault of their own, have been put in a situation where they do not have the appropriate protection necessary for the normal performance of their duties," they stated.
They thanked viewers who, as they stated, continue to get their information in large numbers through RTS, and apologized for being forced to significantly reduce the program.
The IN Medija portal from Inđija writes that due to the blockade of RTS facilities in Belgrade, the public service news program is being broadcast from the studios of the regional Sremska Television in Šid.
The portal states that "the building itself and the studio from which the Public Service News is broadcast resemble the Pink Television building, which led to the confusion."
"For whatever reason the regional Sremska Televizija was chosen to broadcast the news program, the assumption is that the reason is the broadcasting technology and studio that meet RTS standards," the portal states.
