RTS workers ("Our Protest") submitted a petition to the Serbian Parliament this morning to launch a new public call for nominations for new members of the Council of the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Media (REM). It was signed by more than 23.000 people - online and in writing.

Public service news program journalist Marija Miladinović Lisov told N1 that the petition is a contribution from all RTS workers and journalists to have their house unblocked as soon as possible.

"Our house is currently blocked by an unknown editor who is spreading hate speech in Dnevni from an unknown address. I'm not saying that, all journalist associations are saying that. Comparing students to Nazis, talking about the area around RTS being a ghetto, is a flagrant form of hate speech," Miladinović Lisov pointed out, as reported by N1.

When asked whether he expects a new competition to be announced for the selection of members of the REM Council at today's session of the Serbian Parliament's Committee on Culture and Information, he said that this is in the interest of all citizens, but also the authorities.

"A free media service is a way for all stories to be heard. Let's stop turning a blind eye and not seeing what everyone else sees. Without free journalism, there is no progress in any segment of society," said the N1 interviewee.

As she said, their employer is all citizens of Serbia and they should be accountable only to them.
