Croatian President Zoran Milanović announced today that he will no longer run for any political office.
"I will no longer be a candidate for president, or for anything else in politics," Milanović said in a speech opening the Days of Communication in Rovinj.
"I'm slowly summarizing some things, looking at them and concluding that it's nice to be in a herd, protected by others, screeching from the third row like a hungry bird, but being in a herd also stinks," he said.
Milanović won a second term as head of state with a convincing majority of votes in the second round of the presidential elections earlier this year, and according to the Constitution, the same person can be elected to that position a maximum of two times. The presidential term lasts five years.
