Students blocking the University of Niš today called on Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to dissolve the National Assembly and call early parliamentary elections.
"Given the current socio-political crisis, in which the democratic environment has been seriously disrupted, as well as doubts about the legitimacy of the current convocation of the National Assembly, we demand that you use your constitutional powers and provide a way out of this crisis by calling early parliamentary elections," the students from Niš stated on their Instagram account.
They said that elections are "the only democratic mechanism" that can verify the will of citizens and restore trust in institutions.
"Any further delay will be interpreted as avoiding political responsibility, but also fear, insecurity and distrust in one's own legitimacy," said the students in the blockade.
