The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has lifted the detention of former BiH Security Minister Nenad Nešić, who has been in custody since December 26th last year on suspicion of corruption.
According to the Court's decision, and at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, he is prohibited from traveling, is required to periodically report to a state authority, and is prohibited from meeting with certain persons.
The State Prosecutor's Office suspects Nešić of corruption, namely that during his four-year term as director of the Republika Srpska (RS) Roads, from 2016 to 2020, he received half a million euros in bribes.
Nešić was appointed Minister of Security of BiH after the 2022 elections.
On January 27, he submitted his resignation from custody through his lawyer, which was accepted by the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, who relieved him of his duties a day later.
