The president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and former Prime Minister of Serbia Miloš Vučević today criticized the decision of the Court of Appeal in Novi Sad, which lifted the prison detention of activists accused of an alleged attempt to overthrow the constitutional order and replaced it with house arrest, and assessed that the court "let three terrorists defend themselves from freedom."

Vučević wrote in a post on the social network Instagram that the judges "gave in under pressure and threats" from those who had blocked the work of the court for two weeks.

"Once again, they have confirmed not only that they have fallen to their knees, but that they are crawling before the armchair blockaders and their financiers and are literally fulfilling their every wish. I have said what I think about the spineless judges. It is unacceptable that once again hooligans and thugs are enforcing justice according to their street rules. Every normal person in Serbia will raise their voice against this," Vučević stated.

The Court of Appeal in Novi Sad today ordered house arrest with electronic monitoring for activists from the Movement of Free Citizens Mladen Cvijetić, Srđan Đurić and Davor Stefanović.

Students blocking the University of Novi Sad celebrated the release of three activists from detention and announced that they had won and that the two-week blockade of the court was over.

Earlier this month, the Court of Appeals in Novi Sad replaced the detention of professor and activist Marija Vasić, student Lazar Dinić, and activist Lado Jovović with house arrest.
