Vučić: Revenge is not our language, Đokić participated in an attempt to overthrow the state

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that "revenge is not our language, but responsibility must be our future," stating that the "call to violence" from Slavija Square cannot go unacknowledged.

Speaking from the Palace of Serbia, he said that "our security services know where the decision was made on how to call for violence, that the green light was given, that they (the authors) discussed it for 4-5 days."

"There is enormous dissatisfaction in the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) with the results of the talks between Prime Minister Đuro Macut and Rector Vladan Đokić, who showed absolute inconsistency and participated in an attempt to overthrow the state. I will provide maximum support to Macut," Vučić said.

He stated that "there is enormous dissatisfaction among people because they do not want to talk to terrorists and those who destroyed the state, and Đokić is one of them, so we will see what degrees of responsibility there are for such behavior."

He stressed that "there are no negotiations with terrorists", but "dialogue must be conducted with those who think differently politically and are not satisfied with the level of democracy in the country".

Vučić also stated that the message from the end of last night's rally on Belgrade's Slavija Square, that those gathered had the green light, was "a call for civil conflicts and attacks on the police", stating that there would be many more arrests due to the incidents.

"I demand that the Prosecutor's Office do its job, not to act naive. The time for responsibility is coming, I will not sign a petition for pardon for those who participated in the violence," Vučić said in an address from the Palace of Serbia, together with Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić.

As he said, it was not only "arrogant, arrogant" young people who were responsible for last night's violence, but also the elders who incited them for their own personal and political interests.

"I don't know how they thought they could defeat the state, there is no one stronger than the state," said Vučić, stating that he was proud of the professionalism of the police.

He also said that there were between 35 and 36 thousand people at Slavija Square, or a total of 38.010, and that the organizers "experienced a debacle."

Vučić also stated that "the most important thing is that Serbia won, you cannot defeat it with violence, it has not stopped and will not," and announced infrastructure projects, roads and the opening of railway sections.

"We haven't stopped foreign investments either, but they are down 46 percent due to the blockades. If God helps with rain for agriculture, we will be able to achieve a growth rate of 3,5 percent during the summer," Vučić said in a speech at the Palace of Serbia.

He stated that his request to the Government is to resolve the water supply in certain parts of the country, because many municipalities have such problems, and to resolve it by Expo 2027.

He also said that he had received a letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping that the country would approve the necessary minerals to the Stellantis company in Kragujevac, which is a huge recognition for Serbia.
