The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security and Information Agency, acting on the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VJT) in Belgrade, have so far arrested six people on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of "Preparing an act against the constitutional order and security of Serbia" in connection with the criminal offense of "Calling for a violent change in the constitutional order".

The VJT statement states that the individuals in question are LS from Zaječar, IM from Smederevo, LS from Kragujevac, BB from Belgrade, NP from Sombor and DD from Niš, who are suspected of having, on June 20, 2025, at the premises of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and on June 21, 2025, at the premises of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, among other things, arranged and prepared "an attack on state institutions, road blockades and crucial infrastructure throughout the territory of the country, in order to violently change the state order."

VJT also adds that at a meeting at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, "it was confirmed that the 'ultimatum' to hold elections is just an excuse for the use of violence," because the participants in the meeting allegedly said at the time that "even if the request to hold elections in August were immediately accepted, they would not win those elections."

The suspects were ordered to be detained for up to 48 hours, during which time they will be brought in for questioning, and the operation is still ongoing.

Previously, the Informal Group of Students of Niš announced on its Instagram account that a student from the Faculty of Law in Niš had been arrested in Belgrade.
