The regional television project Al Jazeera Balkans is being shut down, reports N1 Belgrade, stating that according to their information, the decision to close was made by the founder, the state of Qatar, "for financial reasons".
This is a branch of the Qatari media concern, which has operated with great success in the Balkans, headquartered in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) since 2011, writes Klix.ba.
Al Jazeera Balkans covers the regional market with branches in Belgrade, Zagreb, Podgorica, Skopje, Ljubljana and Pristina.
Klix.ba states that Al Jazeera Balkans has been present in Sarajevo since mid-September 2010, when it purchased the local TV station NTV Studio 99 from the company "PEP" owned by Adil Kulenović for 2,3 million convertible marks, which was the amount of that TV station's debts to the state.
