The President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik today thanked Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the National Security Council for condemning the verdict of the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which he called a "political verdict".
"I thank President Aleksandar Vučić and the members of the National Security Council for not accepting and condemning the political verdict issued by the unconstitutional Court of BiH," Dodik said on the social network X.
Serbia has always been loyal to RS, and has never done anything against BiH, he added.
"And now, Serbia, as a serious state, a signatory and guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, understood perfectly well that the entire process was a political farce aimed at defending a false high representative and that it represented an undemocratic and anti-civilizational act," Dodik said.
Vučić said that the National Security Council session adopted conclusions regarding the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina's verdict against Dodik, emphasizing that these court decisions are "undemocratic, anti-civilizational and immoral", as well as representing a serious political attack on the Serbian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and on the Dayton Agreement.
The Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH yesterday upheld the first-instance verdict against Dodik, sentencing him to one year in prison and a six-year ban from holding the office of President of the RS for failing to implement the decisions of the High Representative in BiH. There is no right of appeal against that verdict.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina should revoke Dodik's mandate within 15 days.
