Baby dies during home birth in Zagreb, midwife arrested

Zagreb police have arrested an Austrian citizen (69) on suspicion of negligent medical treatment resulting in death.

She is suspected of having assisted a 42-year-old woman during the birth of twins in an apartment, as an internationally certified midwife, during which one child died, the Zagreb Police Department announced, as reported by Indeks.

A tragic event in the Croatian capital occurred on the night between September 4th and 5th.

Police officers conducted a criminal investigation into the 69-year-old midwife, and upon completion of the investigation, she was sent into custody with a criminal complaint for negligent medical treatment.
