The future of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) within the European People's Party (EPP) will be the subject of discussion within the group in the coming days, said Manfred Weber, the president of the EPP parliamentary group in the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, N1 reports.
Speaking to the media before the plenary session of the European Parliament, he said that the EPP is closely monitoring the situation and developments in Serbia.
"We have divided opinions on this in the EPP. We are aware of the developments, we see footage from there. The EPP is not blind to the events in Serbia. The leaders have begun monitoring Vučić and the SNS membership and will discuss this in the coming days," explained Veber.
When asked if it was true that Vučić was banned from attending the EPP summit in Valencia, he replied that it was not true.
"All leaders are invited, members and associate members are invited. Vučić decided not to come," said Veber.
SNS has been an associate member of the EPP since 2016, and this European party family has maintained good cooperation with the ruling party throughout that time, despite warnings from some experts that this contributes to "stabilocracy" in Serbia, according to EWB, reported by N1.
