Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Cakna announced today that the country is imposing sanctions on the leader of the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, and Irina Vlah, the governor of Gagauzia, an autonomous region in Moldova, for undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Moldova and encouraging separatism.
"Estonia will not tolerate those who undermine sovereignty and encourage separatism. We are imposing sanctions on Irina Vlah and Milorad Dodik. Their activities violate the norms of international law and threaten peace and security," Cakna wrote on the social network Iks.
Dodik responded that he had never been to Estonia, nor did he intend to go there, assessing that "the decision to ban entry is therefore utterly meaningless."
"They only made Sarajevo happy, at least for one day," Dodik said on the Iks network.
He added that "when Estonia talks about separatism and accuses someone of it, it's the same as when a drunkard talks about the harmfulness of alcohol."
Sanctions against Dodik were previously imposed by the United States (US), Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Lithuania and Poland.
