Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he was "disgusted" by the fact that Turkey, as Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said, delivered thousands of Turkish "Skydagger" combat "suicide drones" to the Pristina airport today.
Vučić wrote on the X platform that he was "disgusted by Turkey's behavior and brutal violation of the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 1244, as well as the continued arming of the authorities in Pristina."
"It is now completely clear that Turkey does not want stability in the Western Balkans and is dreaming of restoring the Ottoman Empire again," Vučić wrote, adding that "Serbia is a small country, but we understand their true intentions." The Director of the Serbian Government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, also pointed out that by arming Kosovo, Turkey directly violated UN Security Council Resolution 1244, according to which KFOR is the only armed force in Kosovo.
Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) reported that Petković asked "who is the militarization of Pristina directed against" and "placing deadly weapons in the hands of arsonist Albin Kurti, if not against the peaceful Serbian people?"
Petković pointed out that it was no coincidence that the drones were delivered three months ahead of schedule, "just a few days before the local elections" - to provide Kuritje with "the necessary support before the elections on October 12th so that he would be able to continue terrorizing the Serbian people."
He also said that Belgrade "understood this message well" and that it would "continue to responsibly preserve peace and stability, despite armed alliances that are being created to the detriment of peace and pose a direct threat."
Kurti, who announced on Facebook that the drones had arrived in Pristina, wrote that dozens of security forces members had been trained to use drones from the Turkish company "Bajkar", RTS reports.
"These suicide drones, also known as RTF Skydagger FPV that we have acquired, are combat drones equipped with explosive devices aimed at hitting moving and static enemy targets," Kurti described.
He stated that "by purchasing this contingent of unmanned aerial vehicles, in addition to the TB2 "Bajraktar" and "Puma" drones, we continue to increase the striking power of our army with the aim of building a capable and coherent force with new technological achievements and modern warfare tactics."
