Several people have been arrested in connection with the case known as the "sniper snipers" at several locations in Belgrade, Zvornik and Banja Luka, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced, according to Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).
The action was carried out as part of joint activities of the Ministry of the Interior and the Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA).
"The competent state authorities continue to work intensively to clarify all circumstances and facts related to this case," the statement said.
MUP of Republika Srpska: One person was arrested in Zvornik
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity of Republika Srpska announced that DD was arrested in Zvornik in cooperation with the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Security and Information Agency of Serbia and the Service for Combating Organized Crime of the UKP of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As stated in the statement, police officers from the Directorate for Organized and Serious Crime have recently learned that the aforementioned person is illegally residing in the territory of BiH and is using a false identity and forged documents from the Czech Republic.
"The aforementioned person has previously been linked to belonging to one of the organized crime groups from the region. As part of operational cooperation with police and security agencies from BiH and the surrounding area, it was learned that the aforementioned person may be involved in planning and committing criminal acts against the safety of people and property," the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior said.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Monday that the relevant authorities are already trying to find two snipers who, according to intelligence, have come to Belgrade.
He said that it is known where the money they received came from and expressed hope that the competent authorities will succeed in solving the case.
