The leader of the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), Dragan Đilas, assessed today that the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić, is openly spreading paranoia about the visit of EU parliamentarians and is embarrassing Serbia.
He added that Brnabić is doing it in the same way as her boss (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vučić when he insulted MEPs.
In the statement, he ironically noted that Brnabić wrote an essay on the topic "How I Got Angry at the European Parliament," and her work, as he stated, resembles homework from lower elementary school.
He stated that the European Union is not Serbia's external enemy, but rather its largest trading partner, largest donor and key source of grants.
"Countries that have taken this process seriously are receiving billions of euros today precisely thanks to cooperation with European institutions and consistent implementation of the law," Djilas added.
He also said that the SAA believes that dialogue with European institutions is a normal thing for any serious country.
Djilas emphasized that Serbia should be part of Europe in terms of values, laws and the living standards of its citizens, and not a country where European parliamentarians are attacked.
"After all, parliamentarians are coming (from January 22 to 24) to Serbia under agreements and obligations that this government itself signed. The fact that Brnabić and her boss are feigning courage, while servilely nodding their heads in meetings with European officials, is no longer acceptable, because they too have caught them lying," he added.
