The leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik said tonight in Banja Luka that Siniša Karan's victory in the early elections for the president of Republika Srpska is a "warm-up" for the general elections in October this year.
"I declare the victory of Siniša Karan. A few months ago the difference was a little over nine thousand votes, now it is 10.300 votes. So, we have increased it," said Dodik, speaking from the SNSD Election Headquarters.
He added that the SNSD "defeated the High Representative in BiH, Kristijan Šmit, an international factor who sowed disorder here and the Bosniak-Muslim bazaar, who did everything to put pressure on the Central Election Commission of BiH (CIK)."
He called the opposition "incompetents who do not know how to accept defeat," adding that they will continue to engage in current politics, going to important destinations where the voice of Republika Srpska can be heard.
Commenting on the opposition's accusations of election fraud, Dodik called them liars.
"I wasn't even here, I was in important meetings and on the road, I didn't have time to deal with the elections. You're lying," Dodik said.
He ended his speech with the sentence: "I think the people of Sarajevo will want Milorad Dodik when they see what Karan intends to do."
Early elections for the President of Republika Srpska were repeated today at 136 polling stations in 17 cities and municipalities, based on the decision of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC), which identified numerous electoral irregularities at these polling stations in the elections held on November 23.
Early presidential elections in RS were held on November 23, after the CEC stripped Milorad Dodik of his presidential mandate, who was sentenced by the Court of BiH to one year in prison and a six-year ban on holding public office for failing to implement decisions of the High Representative in BiH.
