Heavy rains that fell in North Macedonia yesterday caused rivers to overflow and floods, mostly in the west and north of the country, and numerous houses, buildings and agricultural areas were flooded.
As reported by CUK (facebook.com/CUKnaRSM/?locale=mk_MK), in the southwestern region, in Kičevo, the largest flooding of houses was registered in Prilepska Street, and 220 people were evacuated and accommodated in the "Hristo Uzunov" sports hall.
In the Podvaroš settlement, the basements of several houses were flooded, and facilities at the hospital in Kičevo were also flooded.
The delivery of food and water for vulnerable people has been organized with the support of the Red Cross, and teams from the police, utility company, and fire department are actively working in the field, it was announced.
In the Polog region, in Gostivar, fire crews intervened throughout the night due to heavy rainfall and flooding.
The most critical situation was registered in the village of Forino, which was most affected by the floods, and agricultural areas in the villages of Čajle, Turčane, Vrapčište and Belovište were also flooded.
In the northeastern region, in the municipality of Lipkovo, agricultural areas have been flooded due to the overflow of the Slupčanska River, and there are also flooded agricultural areas in the village of Orizare.
In Kumanovo, in the village of Dobrošane at the Šupli Kamen location, near the bridge on the Kumanovo River, plastic bottles have accumulated, but for now there is no danger of the river overflowing.
In the Skopje region, in the municipality of Saraj, the situation is calm and is being monitored, while in the municipality of Zelenikovo, the Vardar River overflows minimally near the villages of Pakoševo and Novo Selo, without immediate danger.
In the southeast of the country, in Strumica, no damage from precipitation has been reported so far, but a landslide has been reported near the village of Suvi Laki towards Berovo and the relevant services have been notified.
In the eastern region, in Probištip, an interruption in the electricity supply has been registered in the villages of Dolni and Gorni Stubol, and teams from the electricity distribution company EVN are working to repair the fault.
