The Safe Srpska Movement (PSS) today called on other opposition parties in Republika Srpska (RS) to come together and form a united front for a change of government and system in that entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for talks on a joint appearance in the general elections on October 4th.
Draško Stanivuković, president of the Socialist Party of Serbia (PSS), said in Banja Luka after the session of the Presidency of that political movement that this is an official initiative, which opens formal and informal contacts to achieve a common goal - a better, fairer, more developed, non-corrupt Republika Srpska and victory in the upcoming elections.
"We will begin talks, first with the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS), and then with everyone who wants changes in Republika Srpska," he said, the PSS announced.
The PSS believes that in this year's general elections it can offer quality candidates for individual positions, and that all opposition parties should agree to nominate the people who have the best chance, "without being enslaved by quotas and the representation of individual parties."
The statement further stated that the PSS condemns and "expresses concern about the revival and promotion of fascism and Ustashaism in the region."
"As a very concrete measure, we will propose to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and the National Assembly of Republika Srpska the adoption of a Law on the Prohibition of the Promotion of Fascist and Nazi Ideologies in Bosnia and Herzegovina," Stanivuković emphasized.
He added that PSS is seeking detailed information from the Republika Srpska authorities about specific plans for the construction of the Memorial Complex in Donja Gradina.
"After decades of only verbal discussion, there is still no progress in marking this mass execution site and symbol of the suffering of our people in World War II. We consider the construction of a memorial complex a priority for the new government of Republika Srpska," said Stanivuković.
