Former Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Borislav Paravac, died today in Doboj at the age of 83, after a long and serious illness, the Doboj City Administration announced.
A memorial service for Paravac's death will be held on February 20th, and he will be buried the same day at the local cemetery in Kostajnica near Doboj.
Borislav Paravac was born in 1943 in Kostajnica near Doboj and was a high-ranking official of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) for years.
He was a member of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (RS), the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, and was the Serb member of the BiH Presidency from 2003 to 2006.
After the first multi-party elections in BiH, as an official of the Serbian Democratic Party, he served as the president of the Executive Board of the Doboj Municipal Administration for ten years, and during the 1990s he was the president of the Crisis Staff until the end of the war in BiH, according to the Doboj City Administration.
They added that he was faced with a court process, which after ten years before the Court of BiH ended with an acquittal, and the process was conducted for war crimes in the area of Doboj and Teslić.
He was also a member of the RS Senate.
