Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and former Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Vladislav Jovanović died last night at the age of 93, his family announced, N1 reports.
The time and place of the funeral will be announced later.
He was born in Žitni Potok in 1933.
He completed high school in Belgrade in 1951, and then graduated from the Faculty of Law in Belgrade.
He began his diplomatic career in 1957 in the Yugoslav Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He served as foreign minister for two terms, ambassador to the UN, Turkey, and served in Brussels and London.
He spent four years as a clerk at the embassy in Brussels (1960-1964), then he was second secretary at the embassy in Ankara (1967-1971), and counselor at the embassy in London (1975-1979).
He was the Ambassador of the SFRY to Turkey from 1985 to 1989.
He led several Yugoslav delegations at peace and other negotiations during the 1990s.
