The European Democratic Party (EDP) announced that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is inventing external enemies to divert attention from economic problems and, following the example of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, is turning fear into politics.
"Aleksandar Vučić is once again choosing paranoia over responsibility, inventing external enemies to divert attention from his government's economic failures. After Croatia, Albania and Kosovo strengthened their defense cooperation, Vučić spoke of possible attacks by the three countries. Following the pattern of his friend Viktor Orbán, who claims that Ukraine threatens Hungary, Vučić is turning fear into politics," the European Democrats announced on the X network.
On March 12, Vučić repeated his accusations to Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that the military alliance of Croatia, Albania, and Kosovo is aimed directly at Serbia and that they intend to attack Serbia, and that they are "just waiting for a favorable moment."
"Europe needs de-escalation, truth and dialogue in the Western Balkans," the European Democrats stressed in the post, along with an illustration showing Vučić and Orban with the caption "autocrats need made-up wars."
