North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced today a reduction in excise duty on fuel, as well as that the reduced value-added tax measure for gasoline and diesel will be extended for another two weeks.
Mickoski told reporters that a session of the Government of North Macedonia has already been scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m., at which measures to protect against fuel price increases will be adopted.
"The conditions for reducing excise duties on diesel by four denars (six cents) and on gasoline by two denars (three cents) per liter have been met. The reduced excise duty will affect the budget by tens of millions of euros, but there are enough funds in the budget for household work," said Mickoski.
On March 22, the government of North Macedonia decided to reduce the value-added tax on gasoline and diesel fuel from 18 percent to 10 percent.
Mickoski then said that the measure would last for the next two weeks and would begin at midnight between March 23 and 24, but added that it could be extended if necessary.
