The Kosovo Special Prosecution Office announced today that SR has been detained on suspicion of involvement in a "terrorist attack" that occurred on September 24, 2023 in Banjska.
According to the statement, police arrested the suspect at the Merdare border crossing and ordered him to be detained for up to 48 hours.
He is suspected of committing a terrorist act, serious crimes against the constitutional order and security of Kosovo.
Three people were previously arrested for the events in Banjska, and the special prosecutor's office requested life imprisonment for them.
None of them have pleaded guilty, and the court's decision is awaited.
According to the indictment of the Special Prosecution, in September 2023, a group of armed Serbs attacked the police in the village of Banjska, and their goal was to separate the north from Kosovo.
Another 42 people have been charged for the terrorist attack in Banjska, but they are in Serbia.
As the prosecution claims, the group was led by Milan Radoičić, who was then the vice president of the Serbian List and one of the close associates of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
It is added that the group carried out preparations for the attack and other terrorist activities in Kosovo in Serbia, including in Serbian Army facilities.
