The president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Miloš Vučević, said today that he is "concerned that someone from Serbia, who is at the head of some institutions, and who is involved in politics, is going to Brussels or anywhere in Europe to lobby for Serbia to be punished, so that we do not receive the money that is due to us", thereby "essentially punishing the citizens of Serbia". Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated on Monday that the EU "violated the principles of the rule of law" by its Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos meeting with the rector of the University of Belgrade Vladan Đokić in Brussels. Vučić assessed that it was a political conversation and said that the rector has no right to engage in politics. Đokić was in Brussels for an international conference of universities under the auspices of the EU. Commissioner Kos announced on Monday at a meeting of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee that the European Commission is still considering whether to pay Belgrade the money intended for it from the Growth Plan, because it is very concerned about the situation in Serbia. Vučević told Prva Television today that he believes in the principles and rules of the European Union (EU) and expects funds to be disbursed for the projects presented by Serbia. The SNS president said that the party will be ready for elections whenever they are. "We, as a party and as part of a broader political movement, see ourselves as part of a movement together with President Aleksandar Vučić and we want him to lead that list, where the SNS will also be, we will be ready for elections whether in three or six months, that is a very short period in politics," Vučević said.
