Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced today that he had discussed cooperation in the field of security and visa policy with European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Bruner.

Vučić posted a photo with Bruner on Instagram and wrote that "Serbia, through a responsible attitude towards migration, cooperation with the EU, FRONTEX and the countries of the region, as well as the harmonization of visa policy, has shown that it shares European values, protects common security and remains a reliable partner of the EU."

"It is crucial for us that enlargement policy remains high on the agenda of European institutions and member states, with a clear, predictable and credible process," the announcement states.

Vučić said that Serbia remains firmly committed to cooperation with the EU in the field of foreign and security policy, while preserving its own national, political and economic interests.

"We will continue to contribute to the stability of the European continent, strengthening energy security, better management of migration flows, border protection, resilience to hybrid and cyber threats, as well as strengthening the security of the entire region," it added.

Vučić also discussed the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans with Bruner, especially reforms that accelerate Serbia's economic integration into the EU single market.

"We expect that this process will remain based on results, fair treatment and without additional political conditioning, because only in this way can it fully contribute to a faster European path for Serbia and the entire region," the announcement concludes.
