The president of the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) in the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, said today in Banja Luka that he will declare the independence of Republika Srpska (RS) if the High Representative of the International Community in BiH, Christian Schmidt, imposes a law on state property.
"If Schmidt imposes the law on state property, a decision on the independence of RS will be made immediately," Dodik said, according to Banja Luka media.
He also said that all decisions made by Schmidt during his term should be annulled.
"We will not allow anyone to deal with us in that way again. Schmidt's decisions must be annulled. When this is over, RS is ready for talks and agreements in BiH. We will not talk before that," said Dodik.
Dodik called Bosnia and Herzegovina a "freak state" and the opposition in RS "trash, which, together with Muslim politicians and the international community, will try to abolish RS."
"BiH today is a Frankenstein for the Serbian people that cannot give anything good to Serbs. The longer we stay in BiH, the worse it will be for us," he assessed.
Dodik said that RS would not enter into a military conflict and expressed hope that "after global unrest, the civilized world will be in a position to ensure the right of peoples to self-determination."
"We need to come together around this idea. There is not a single sign that could be optimistic about our continued stay in BiH. BiH was an experiment in which the development of RS and all its projects were stopped," Dodik concluded.
The High Representative of the International Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, resigned from his position on April 10th after almost five years at the helm of the Office of the High Representative.
