The Belgrade Higher Court has ordered a 30-day detention for the driver of a car who ran over a man (90) in front of the Faculty of Law on May 14th during a 16-minute blockade, the court announced today.
On May 16, the High Court's preliminary proceedings judge ordered MS to be detained for a maximum of 30 days, the court told Beta.
Detention was ordered due to circumstances indicating a risk of flight, the possibility of repeating the criminal offense, as well as for disturbing the public.
"An appeal against this decision is allowed to the criminal pre-trial chamber of the Higher Court in Belgrade within three days from the date of receipt of the decision," the court added.
In Belgrade, on May 14, an elderly man (90) was injured when he was hit by a car during a 16-minute silence in front of the Faculty of Law.
The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced at the time that the driver of the car had been arrested and was being held for up to 48 hours because he was suspected of committing the crime of attempted aggravated murder.
