Lawyer: Aleksandar Radić is at large, the prosecution did not request detention

Stefan Ćorda, the lawyer for military analyst Aleksandar Radić, told N1 television that the search of Radić's belongings at several locations lasted until around 21 p.m., and that the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office decided not to request detention for him.

The search, Ćorda describes, was conducted at several locations and apartments that could potentially be of interest to the prosecution and police for the alleged, at the prosecutor's order, commission of a criminal offense under Article 320 of the Criminal Code - "Preparation to overthrow the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Serbia."

"After the hearing, the prosecution decided not to recommend detention for Mr. Radic, so he is currently at large," he said.

The prosecution, according to the lawyer, only received permission from the High Court, the judge for preliminary proceedings, to search all premises owned and held by Aleksandar Radić.

"They even had a permit for forced entry, which they did not use. As for the police officers and the prosecutor's office, everything was professional, but they really searched all possible devices, they even took some computers from his daughter. It was really extensive and as if it was a major criminal, which Aleksandar Radić is not at all. It was clear to both the police officers and the prosecutor's office that this was a real scientist. They took everything, they took several USBs, some computers, they even took some contracts that he signed for the production of scientific papers and texts. It really was, in the end, in my opinion, a bit and agonizing. It took so long that everything was searched in the smallest details and now it has finally ended. After that, the prosecutor's office considered that there were no grounds and did not propose detention. And I hope that they will stick to that decision," he said.
