If it becomes a member of the European Union (EU), Albania will not use its veto power against North Macedonia, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said today.

As reported by the MIA agency, Rama said this in front of participants of the "RinCamp 2026" camp in the Albanian tourist town of Jal, responding to a question from a student from Skopje whether Albania would veto North Macedonia's European path.

He stressed that he had always been against the use of the veto in the EU enlargement process, describing it as a mechanism that hinders integration and serves no one.

"Albania will not veto anyone or anywhere. Albania has an interest in things going as well as possible in North Macedonia, Albania has an interest in relations between the two peoples in North Macedonia, Albanians and Macedonians, being brotherly and being relations of harmonious coexistence," Rama said.
