Vučić: I will not go to the election campaign as president, but as a citizen, in my own car

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that parliamentary elections in Serbia could be held in the next 80 to 120 days, adding that he will not participate in the election campaign as president of the country.

"I will go to the elections in a way that none of them would ever go, because they would go to parliamentary campaigns as presidents. I will not go to a parliamentary campaign as president, but as an ordinary citizen," Vučić told Informer television, announcing that he would go to a party rally in the Alibunar municipality today.

He added that he will help the "United Serbia" list in the campaign and that he will fight for that list with the enormous energy that he still believes he has.

"I will do my best to ensure that this list wins, if it does not win - we will acknowledge and congratulate our opponents and continue the fight. If we win - we will extend a hand to the defeated and say that we still want to talk to them," Vučić said.

He assessed that the election campaign would be interesting and announced that he would participate in it for about 20 days with his car, and that he would not return to Belgrade more than two or three times.

"I have major obligations in September as president and I will not be able to participate in part of the campaign, which is why I will not be in the country. And for the short time that I will be in the campaign, I will not be president," Vučić said.

Speaking about the "Who Are You?" platform for reporting corruption and arrogant officials, he said that as of this morning there had been around 5.500 reports, two of which were sent by the executive director of the Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI), Zoran Gavrilović.

"He also sent two reports to Birodi, of course political provocations, but I respect that and it's part of democracy. And accordingly, I will respond to Mr. Birodi, but I need some time for that, so they don't get angry. Everything I have to respond to personally, I will do," Vučić said.

He also announced that Novi Bečej will get a large factory for more than 1.000 employees, especially women.

Vučić also assessed that the student movement's list for the upcoming elections includes people who would not be able to lead the country because they are "absolutely incompetent", adding that most of them work in state institutions and receive salaries from the budget.

During a telephone interview with Informer television, Vučić commented on the alleged student list containing 250 names and said that these are "parasites on the state manger."

"Pay attention, many of them are people from state structures, to whom the state pays salaries. There are valuable people in the civil service, but these people do not respect the state, they destroyed our universities and schools," claims the Serbian president.

According to him, the list of candidates who will supposedly represent the student movement in the elections is tragicomic, and there are no young or energetic individuals among them.

"This is about an interest group. They are a pack without an idea, plan or program," Vučić believes.

Informer claims that the head of the student list is the rector of the University of Belgrade, Vladan Đokić, and that the top ten candidates include retired prosecutor Jasmina Paunović, professor Milo Lompar and others.
