The President of the Assembly of Serbia, Maja Gojković, stated that Aleksandar Vučić should take over the position of President of Serbia on May 31, and that Serbia will get a new Prime Minister in June.
Gojković told RTS that the mandate of the current President of the Republic, Tomislav Nikolić, expires on May 31 and that Vučić will take the oath by then, which will begin his presidential mandate.
As she explained, Vučić will hold consultations with the representatives of the parliamentary parties after assuming the post of President of Serbia and then entrust the mandate to the new Prime Minister who has a majority in the Assembly.
The President of the Assembly says that there is a very stable majority in the parliament and that, along with the Serbian Progressive Party, it consists of all those parties that supported the presidential candidacy of Aleksandar Vučić.
"I expect that we will get a new mandate in June," said Gojković and added that it will certainly be someone who supports the reform course that Serbia voted for.
She said that the Assembly will soon resume the session that was interrupted due to the election campaign.
"The session will soon continue where we started. We need to finish determining the agenda and discuss only the laws, and then vote. That session will be very short," said Gojković.
Then, as she said, they will "see" with the Prime Minister and his cabinet whether it is necessary to pass some more bills by May 31, noting that she thinks there will be several more sessions.
