A former British government official has said that British Prime Minister Theresa May is undermining the efforts of her predecessor David Cameron in the process of the country's exit from the European Union (EU) (Brexit) after the June 23 referendum. Cameron's aide Craig Oliver published a book today in which he claims the former prime minister was driven to the "brink of exasperation" as he sought support from Theresa May for the British to support the idea of remaining in the EU. Theresa May, who was Home Secretary at the time, abstained during the election campaign in which Cameron advocated staying in the Union. In the book "Unleashing Demons: The Inside Sorrow of Brexit", Oliver stated that Cameron put constant pressure on May to take on a leading role during the election campaign, but she "chose the strategy of a submarine that disappears from sight".
