Russian President Vladimir Putin said today, in a conversation with British Prime Minister Theresa May, that Moscow wants to re-establish ties with her country in all areas, the Kremlin announced.
This was the first meeting between Putin and May, held on the sidelines of the G20 summit in China, and according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, it was "good, constructive and open".
"Putin clearly and unequivocally indicated that we are interested in the complete restoration of our relations and dialogue in all areas, including the most sensitive ones," Peskov said, AFP reported.
In this sense, Russia is ready for "a move if the British are also ready for it", said Peskov.
Reuters reported that May expressed hope for an open dialogue with Russia, even though the two countries seriously differ in some positions.
"While I recognize that there will be some differences between us, there are some important, complex and serious topics and issues that need to be discussed and I hope that we can have an honest and open relationship and dialogue," May said.
