Swiss rescue services today found the wreckage of a fighter plane of the Swiss Air Force, but they are still looking for the pilot, the country's Ministry of Defense announced today.
A single-seater F/A-18C plane disappeared from radar yesterday and crashed near the town of Susten in central Switzerland, Reuters reported.
The search for the downed plane and the pilot is hampered by bad weather in the Alps, where the plane crashed.
It is the third time in the last three years that the Swiss Air Force has been without an F/A-18C aircraft.
In the crash of one such plane in October 2015 in the southeast of France, the pilot was injured, while another plane crashed in Switzerland two years earlier.
