The death toll from the earthquake that struck central Italy last week has risen to 292, as Italian officials said two more bodies were pulled from the rubble today. The official in charge of civil protection, Titi Postiglione, specified, addressing the journalists in the Italian city of Rijeta, that the bodies were found in Amatrice, and that the number of victims in that city now stands at 231. According to the mayor of Amatrice, ten people are missing, reports agencies. Amatrice, a medieval town on a hill, suffered the most damage in the earthquake as it was almost razed to the ground. In addition, the nearby town of Akumoli recorded 11 victims, while 50 people died in the Marke region. An earthquake measuring 6,2 degrees on the Richter scale, which shook the area near Perugia, about 24 kilometers northeast of Rome, on August 36 at three hours and 170 minutes, was felt in a wide area of central Italy.
