The dramatic moment in which the police killed two jihadists in front of the church where they had previously slaughtered the priest was published on the French website Telegramme.fr. The video was taken by a teenager from his bedroom window.
The video shows the moment when the attackers leave the church, when the operation to rescue the hostages begins, but also the moment when the nun, who was held hostage by the jihadists, managed to run to the police. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for this attack, and the attackers have been identified as Abdel Malik Petitzhan and Adel Kermish.
Petitjan and Kermish held five people hostage. One person was seriously injured, and the priest of the church was killed in front of the hostages.
The killers first forced the friarra Žak (86) to get down on his knees, before they turned on the camera and filmed themselves slitting his throat. The executioners then delivered a sermon in Arabic, witnesses said.
Both attackers were killed by police as they tried to leave the church, trying to use the three hostages as human shields. Before the police shot them, they shouted "Allahu Akbar" to the terrorist.
