Flooding in Paris is expected to peak today, with the Seine River six meters above normal, the BBC reported, adding that French President Francois Hollande is expected to declare a state of natural disaster.
About 25.000 people were left without electricity in Paris and central parts of France.
Protective ramparts were placed along the Seine, which were breached in some parts.
Due to the floods, the famous Louvre and Orsay museums were closed so that the works of art could be moved to a safe location.
Flooding across France and Germany has so far claimed the lives of at least 11 people, and thousands have left their homes.
During the weekend, from France to Ukraine, heavy rainfall is expected, and in some areas up to 50 millimeters of rain could fall in just a few hours.
The storm also hit Belgium and Poland.
