British actor and two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine said today that Great Britain should leave the European Union (EU) if reforms are not implemented within the Union as required by the authorities in London.
"We should leave the EU if there are no significant changes," said Kane, who is the first figure from the world of culture to speak out about Great Britain's membership in the EU.
Kane (82) assessed that Brexit (the English coin for Great Britain's exit from the EU) would be terrifying, but "no less overwhelming than the leadership of thousands of faceless faces from Brussels."
The British actor said that Great Britain would certainly suffer the consequences of leaving the EU, but would recover.
"Work hard, try harder and success is there," Kane said.
Kane's statement was immediately reacted to by the leader of the anti-European party Ukip, Nigel Farage.
"I welcome Michael Caine's support for Brexit. We need to break down that bloody door (to the EU)," Farage said.
British Prime Minister David Cameron, who promised a referendum on the country's EU membership in 2017, is negotiating the terms of the country's stay in the Union.
Great Britain wants a fundamental change in the social and economic rules of the EU and agreements among its members so that the states gain more independence in decision-making, but at the expense of the institutions in Brussels.
