Great Britain announced today that one of the most advanced ships of its navy will assist the French aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf in the fight against the Islamic State.
Defense Minister Michael Fallon said that the destroyer "Defender" will provide air protection for the French aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle", which sailed from the port of Toulon, to participate in operations against the Islamic State in Syria.
The destroyer "Defender" with 230 crew members is on a nine-month assignment in the Middle East. The Royal Navy said the ship can protect a group of ships from air, aircraft or missile attacks.
