The Russian airline Metrojet suspended all flights with European Airbus A321 planes after plane crashes of that type in Sinai during the flight from the Egyptian resort, the Russian Federal Transport Agency announced today. The agency stated in a statement that Metrojet submitted documents showing that flights were suspended pending the authorities' checks. Metrojet has four A321 aircraft. Metrojet ruled out technical or pilot error as the cause of the crash, and Russian authorities declined to comment, saying investigations were ongoing. British and American officials said on Wednesday that they have information that the plane was shot down by a bomb. A Russian Airbus 321-200 with 224 passengers and crew members crashed on October 31 on the way from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg 23 minutes after takeoff. No one survived.
