At the plenary session in Strasbourg, the European Parliament adopted a resolution by a majority of votes calling on the EU countries to end any prosecution of Edward Snowden and to provide him with protection, the EU press service stated.
The parliamentarians called on the EU states "to suspend any prosecution of Snowden, to provide him with protection and, of course, oppose his extradition or return to third countries - in recognition of his status as a whistle-blower and international defender of human rights", reports Sputnik.
