The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today invited the French ambassador to Moscow for a conversation after a military plane approached a plane with a Russian official on the way to Geneva in French airspace.

"A military plane came dangerously close to the plane with the Russian delegation headed by the president of the lower house of parliament - the Duma, Sergei Narshkin in the French sky," the statement said, adding that some members of the delegation saw the plane that was very close to theirs.

France reacted immediately, stating that it was a Swiss, not a French, plane that flew over France.
