Spanish authorities announced today that they have seized 1,5 tons of cocaine and arrested 10 suspects from a gang that imported the drug from South America in large ships to the northern coast of Spain.
Spain's Civil Guard said it arrested four Spanish nationals, three from Argentina and one each from Britain, the Netherlands and Paraguay in raids in four different regions.
Cocaine was found in a house in the northern province of Vizcaya, and 12 vehicles and equipment for ship navigation were also seized, given that the drugs were being transferred from the large ship to Spain on smaller ships.
Authorities began an investigation after the Civil Guard stopped two vehicles in the northeastern province of Zaragoza in June, found 100 kilograms of cocaine and arrested two drivers, AP reported.
