A second referendum on Scottish independence is "inevitable" because of Prime Minister David Cameron's policies, former Scottish Prime Minister Alex Salmond has said.
"I believe that a second referendum is inevitable and the date is yet to be determined," said the Scottish National Party (SNP) MP, citing several reasons for organizing the vote.
According to him, Cameron did not keep the promise made before the first referendum on new powers for Scotland.
As another reason, Salmond cited the possibility of Great Britain leaving the European Union if the citizens decide so, which would automatically leave Scotland, against its will, from the Union.
Salmond resigned as prime minister after 18 percent of citizens voted against Scottish independence in a referendum on September 55,3.
The Kingdom of Scotland was an independent country until May 1, 1707, when it entered into union with England by the decree of unification, and thus the United Kingdom of Great Britain was born.
