US President Barack Obama is proud of the relationship he has built with British Prime Minister David Cameron and looks forward to continuing those close ties, the White House announced after the convincing victory of Cameron's Conservative Party in the parliamentary elections in Britain.
"This election is proof of the strength of a vibrant democracy," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, as reported by AFP.
"The US president is proud of the strong cooperation he has developed with David Cameron over the years and looks forward to further strengthening their mutual relationship," Ernest told CNN.
He added that the US administration also hopes to "further deepen the ties between the American and British people, because the close relationship between our governments has greatly benefited the citizens of the United States.
The conservative party led by former British Prime Minister Cameron won the majority of seats in the parliament in yesterday's parliamentary elections, which will enable it to form a government without the need for a coalition with other parties.
