Tonight, Germany rejected the appeal of US Vice President Mike Pence, who called on the Europeans to withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran, along with the US, on the grounds that Iran represents a threat.
"Together with the British, the French and the entire European Union (EU), we found a way for Iran to remain in the nuclear agreement. Our goal is that the country does not have nuclear weapons, precisely because this could destabilize the region," said the head of German diplomacy. Hajko Mas.
The German minister said at the International Security Conference that started today in Munich that without that agreement the region would be less safe.
Yesterday, at the conference on the Middle East in Warsaw, Pence condemned the Europeans for not withdrawing from the Iran nuclear agreement.
The US withdrew from the agreement last year, while the EU believes that Iran respects its obligations under the deal.
